Cookie Policy

We keep this simple. We use one analytics cookie — only if you allow it — and nothing for advertising or cross-site tracking.

A cookie is a small text file a website can store on your device. This page explains what we do — and, more importantly, what we don’t do — with them on ownyourstory.be.

1. What we use cookies for

We use cookies for two things: to run the site securely, and — only with your consent — to measure how the site is used. We run no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we never sell or share browsing data.

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept, reject, or choose per category. Until you choose, nothing beyond what is strictly necessary is set — analytics and other non-essential cookies stay switched off by default (we use Google Consent Mode, which defaults to “denied”). You can change your choice at any time through Cookie Settings in the footer.

2. Strictly necessary cookies

We rely on cookies that are essential to deliver the site securely and reliably — for example, basic settings, your cookie choice itself, and the security measures applied by our hosting provider. These do not require consent under the law because the site cannot function without them.

3. Analytics — only with your consent

If you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site, so we can improve it. This sets a small measurement cookie. We do not use it for advertising or to track you across other websites. If you reject analytics, no analytics cookie is set and no measurement data is collected.

4. Cookies set by embedded services

Some pages embed services from other companies, which may set their own cookies when you interact with them:

  • Airtable — on our contact page we embed an Airtable form. Airtable may set cookies needed to run that form.
  • bookto — if you proceed to checkout for one of our products, our checkout provider may set cookies needed to process your purchase.

These cookies are governed by those providers’ own privacy and cookie policies. They are only triggered when you use the relevant feature.

5. Managing your choices

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works.
